美國在台協會台中線上分處代表Mr. Matthew O’Connor於1月4日受國立暨南國際大學之邀，對150位通識課程學生及15位暨大附中學生發表主題為 「台美經貿關係」的演講。 Mr. O'Connor 就他的觀點來討論台美經貿活動, 包括農業、醫藥、智慧財產權, 和雙邊經濟及科學的合作。聽講後, 學生們詢問美國對於中國大陸及東南亞國協間的自由貿易區, 兩岸經濟合作架構協議,以及台灣與中國大陸的雙邊貿易關係的看法.   最後，Mr. O’Connor鼓勵同學們對於經濟及其他的議題可以有更深且廣泛的思考. 

Speaking to 165 students from National Chi Nan University and its affiliated high school on January 4, AIT Taichung Virtual Branch Officer Matthew O'Connor gave his perspective on U.S. -Taiwan economic and trade activities, including issues such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and intellectual property rights, as well as bilateral economic and scientific cooperation. Following his talk, students raised questions about U.S. views on the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area, ECFA, and the China-Taiwan bilateral trade relationship. Finally, Mr. O'Connor encouraged the students to think deeply and broadly about economic and other issues.
