台中縣學校獲得“外交之門”獎

美國國務院於6月1日, 宣布兩個獲得2010年"外交之門"獎的網站.  此活動是由全球學校網所共同主辦.   其獎項肯定那些最能教導年輕人有關國際事務及外交之重要性的網站.   參賽者包括來自29 個國家, 年齡11-18歲, 的263個學生團隊.

其中一個得獎網站, 是由台中縣明道高中的團隊所建立的,  站名為"無聲的海嘯- 糧食危機". 此網站探討在各種全球環境下的食物短缺問題, 同時也討論食物危機的原因及可能的解決方案. 

每位"外交之門"得獎團隊的學生成員, 可以獲得 2000美元的獎學金.  此外,  每位獲獎團隊教練, 可獲得500美元的現金獎勵. 有關"外交之門" 的詳情, 可進入網站 http://www.globalschoolnet.org/gsndoors/ 查詢

Taichung County School Wins Doors to Diplomacy Award

On June 1, the Department of State announced the selection of two winning websites for its 2010 Doors to Diplomacy Award, which is co-sponsored by Global SchoolNet. The awards recognize the web projects that best teach young people about the importance of international affairs and diplomacy. Participants, ranging in age from 11 to 18, included 263 student teams from 29 countries.

One of the winning sites was built by a team from Mingdao High School in Taichung County. Called "The Silent Tsunami--Global Food Crisis," (http://www.mingdao.edu.tw/diplomacy/en/), the project explores the problem of food shortages in various global contexts, as well as the cause of the food crisis and possible solutions.

Each student member of the winning Doors to Diplomacy Award teams will receive a $2,000 scholarship. In addition, the winning coaches will each receive a $500 cash award. Further detail on the Doors to Diplomacy projects can be found at http://www.globalschoolnet.org/gsndoors/.
